The new Jaguar Land Rover is located in the industrial area of Nitra - North in Slovakia. After England, China, India and Brazil, it is the fifth factory of this brand. After completing all the buildings with a total area of about 300,000 square meters, it will be one of the largest factories in the world and employ around 2,800 people. Construction costs are around £ 1
billion. The factory is supposed to produce 150,000 cars a year in the first phase and is the first in Europe equipped with pulse conveyors.
The dimensions of the Body in White building (welding shop) are 333 x 280 m. The superstructure consists of fixed RC columns and steel roof structures - girders, purlins, roof bracing and plantrooms. Column grid is 20 x 20 m, column height is 10.35 m. Girders are lattice, constant height of 3.0m, mainly of profiles HE-A, HE-B and HE-M. The purlins are saddle-shaped lattice, with a height of 3.0 to 3.2 m, mainly made of HE-A profiles. The roof braces and bracing of the bottom chords are made of SHS profiles. Roof plantrooms are frame structures 160 m long, with a span of 20 m and a height of 7.1 m.
The scope of our work was static and seismic analysis of the building, detailed design of the steel superstructure incl. detail design, all secondary structures (roof and facade substructures, platforms, inbuilts, staircases, etc.) and subsequent structural analysis of the load-bearing capacity of the roof structures in the case of additional suspending of conveyors and other platforms.
