Observation Tower, Mesto Albrechtice
Observation Tower, Mesto Albrechtice
Client: Bögl and Krysl
Stage: Detailed design
Design: 01/2008 - 10/2009
Two unused army telecommunication towers was rebuilt to the observation tower. The design preceded the geodetic survey of the actual geometry, the dimensions of all existing elements were verified, the thickness of the tubes was checked by an ultrasonic thickness gauge.
The height of the towers is about 30 meters, the footbridge is 16 meters long. Platforms, roofs, footbridge and staircase are made from standard IPE, UPE, HE-A, HE-B, CHS sections. Covering is teardrop plate or grating. New constructions are hot-dip galvanized, existing painted.
The original concept did not satisfy either static or dynamic analysis - overloaded steel elements, unstable base, strong response to vandalism. Therefore, it was decided to strength the tower by the MacAlloy system rods from S 460 stainless steel.
